Why would one not trust him on that point, in his EARLY statement, particulary at that point in time. If he had been involved he would then expressed his satisfaction, about his plan, clearly.
That may be the first mistake US did, and "chasing the Earth", as a result.
The second miscalculation was to attack Iraq as being the only option to revenge on "someone", the unknown.
A small group of men may have wanted to take "the action" in their own hands and "succeeded", to hurt, not only USA but the whole World.
One very often under-estimate individuals or small groups strength in conspiracy actions, and theirs anonymity may have been the only way to operate such malicious attack of magnitude.
One single person has often in the history, turned the whole World into turmoil.
